A successful tourist industry relies on healthy reefs if it if to prosper. Yet tourist can easily damaged the resource on which it depends. Construction of hotels and pontoons, demand for fresh seafood and souvenirs from the reefs, and the activities of snorkellers, divers
and boats all have an impacts.
As tourists, we can do much to help reefs by acting responsibly and supporting conservation organizations, such as the Marine Conservation Society, a UK-based charity that has produced the following Coral Code.
“When I read this passage, I know that the reefs are fragile. It will be destroyed if we don’t protect it. I will help the reefs by don’t support souvenirs from shells business. I don’t want the beautiful environment will disappear.”
