We determined the MICs of chitosans with a Mν of 5, 6, 12, 15.7, and 27 kDa and DD 85%. The results of these experiments are summarized in Table 2. It can be seen that achitosan preparation with an åν of 27 kDa inhibited the growth of E. coli at a concentration of 0.5%. This chitosan had a stronger inhibitory effect on C. albicans (MIC = 0.01%). However, the same chito-san at a concentration of 1% did not inhibit the growth of S. aureus.
