This adaptation uses basically the material requirement planning
system (MRP)and bar coding cards.The main benefits associated
with using this system and highlighted by the authors are
reduction in the WIP,increased flexibility in supply,and increased
responsiveness to fluctuations in demand.In this adaptation,just
the characteristic of limited WIP(during every period)is
preserved in relation to the original kanban system.The
conditions overcome by the use of bar-coding kanban are items
variability and unstable demand. Landry et al.(1997) and Chausse´
et al.(2000) provide more details about the bar-coding kanban.
