Unit 3, Listen and write, Exercises A and B
Sofia: Let’s get away somewhere different for our vacation this year.
Why do we always have to go to the same place? Could we
go somewhere different for a change?
Alex: We don’t always go to the same place. Last time we went
to Barbados, and the time before it was Jamaica!
Sofia: That’s what I mean. We always go to the same kind
of place—a beach resort where there’s nothing to do
except swim and sit on the beach. Can we go somewhere
interesting?
Alex: But that’s the whole point. You go on vacation to get away
from it all … to stop being busy all the time. What’s wrong
with that?
Sofia: That’s your ideal vacation, but it’s not mine! I like to see
interesting sights like ruins and museums, and go to concerts,
and learn about different cultures.
Alex: That sounds much too busy for me … I like to relax, read
a book, sit in the sun, go for a swim …
Sofia: Yes … and that’s what we always end up doing.
