The aim here is to establish whether ‘high-HRM quality-enhancer’ hotels
outperform the other categories of hotels within the sample. This will demonstrate
whether the adoption of anything other than a high-commitment quality-enhancer
approach is sub-optimal in the context of the Barbados hotel industry. As Hoque
(1999) did, this paper wishes to find out whether ‘high-HRM quality-enhancer’
hotels outperformed the other categories of hotel within the sample. Holding the
‘High-HRM quality enhancer’ enhancer category constant will show whether this
category outperform the other categories of hotel within the sample. The second
hypothesis to be tested in this study is:
H2. A ‘high-HRM quality-enhancer’ approach is universally relevant within the
Barbados hotel industry (Section 2.3.2).
