by the plasticizers effect, which creates a free volume (Quintanaet al., 2013).Contrary to the DEP formulation, the elongation at breakdecreases from 6 ± 0.6% to 3.3 ± 0.3% when the concentration ofionic liquid increases from 30% to 40%. This situation can beexplained by the effect of BMIMCl in weakening and breaking theinteractions of the molecules of cellulose acetate. The Young’s modulus of CA-DEP-40 presents a higher value, comparatively to CA-BM-40, respectively, 238 ± 29 MPa and162 ± 20 MPa. This suggests that the interaction between the CAchains become weaker in the presence of BMIMCl.
