Results: The mean simple reaction time of the overall participants
was 240.3 ms (251.1 ms and 263.3 ms for participants with all-cause
and cardiovascular mortality, respectively). Participants with all-cause
or cardiovascularmortality were more likely to be older, male, and current
smokers, and have elevated systolic blood pressure, high total cholesterol
levels, and a history of diabetes (data not shown). Systolic blood
pressure, smoking, and/or a history of diabetes were significant predictors
of all-cause and cardiovascular mortality (Table 1). The addition of
the tertiles of simple reaction time was significantly associated with increased
risk of all-cause (HR for Q3 vs. Q1, 1.91; 95% CI, 1.23–2.95)
