The white muscovy duck is a native breed in Fujian
Province, with white feathers, a pink beak, yellow feet
and good meat quality. The Putian Guangdong Wenshi
Poultry Co., established white muscovy ducks (n 620)
from RF lines (The RF lines were obtained by crossing
two lines with divergent egg production rates by the Putian
Guangdong Wenshi Poultry Co.). The white muscovy
ducks were reared in cages in a semi-open house and subjected
to conventional breeding management conditions.
Recorded traits included age at fi rst laying, peak clutch in
days, average clutch in days and egg number at 300 days
of each individual duck. Birds had free access to feed and
water. Commercial corn – soybean-based diets that met all
NATIONAL RESEARCH COUNCIL (1994) requirements were
provided in the study.
