Furthermore, eating primarily to satisfy hunger cues, such as growl-
ing stomach or other physical sensations of hunger, resulted in a
negative predictor for binge behavior in females. This is in line with pre-
vious studies that suggested that individuals who are motivated by
physical eating, tend to be normal-weighted, to have healthy eating be-
haviors and are less likely to bump into restrictive dieting consequences
(Hansen & Goodman, 1999; Schwartz, 1996).
So, instead of engaging in a risky behavior just to seek out new and
intense sensations and experiences, adolescents seem to binge eat in
order to avoid unpleasant affects.
