Hello from the USA! You are almost ready to embark on your great cultural exchange journey! Attached to this email are very important arrival instructions. These arrival instructions should be read carefully and followed for safe arrival to Ocean City. If you have any questions, please contact us for clarification.
You are responsible for your onward travel which may include the cost of your bus, train, taxi and any hotel stays that may be required. You will also need your housing deposit and required rent. Please PLAN AHEAD!!
You need to login to your student account at www.myuwt.com and enter your username and password to enter your travel information as soon as possible, if you have not already done so.
Please remember your employer is very excited about your arrival and has put a lot of planning into your program. Be patient with your employer and your co-workers. There is an adjustment period for everyone. Your first week or two in the USA will be very different for you, the season has just started, the weather can be cooler, you will have some training and you may be exhausted – please report to work with a smile on your face and a good attitude!
You will follow your arrival instructions and report to our office in Ocean City during normal working hours, Monday - Friday, between 9 am to 5 pm, unless otherwise approved. If you do not report to Ocean City for orientation within 3 days of the agreed upon start date and arrival into the USA, your J-1 program will be dismissed. United Work and Travel, a division of American Pool Enterprises, Inc. has a zero tolerance policy for failure to report to your J-1 Program.
Upon orientation and arrival to your student housing, don’t forget to check in for your program. You are required to check in to student housing within 72 hours of arrival into the USA and PLEASE call or email home right away! Your family will be worried about you.
To check in please visit your student account at www.myuwt.com and enter your username and password. Do not check prior to arrival in the USA! Once logged in look to the right and select “J-1 Program Check In.”) Once you complete the form, please remember to hit SAVE and submit! If you do not have access to the internet or have a problem do not panic, just call our office the next business day between 8 am & 5 pm, toll free at 1-866-IGO2USA (446-2872) or 410-581-7788. This is also how you will complete your 30/60/90 day program check ins. These are required and you must do so on time to remain in good standing on the program.
Please note: we WILL NOT accept email or voicemail check-in’s. You must check in online or speak directly to a UWT team member.
Checking in for your program activates your insurance, registers you in SEVIS and enables you to apply for your social security number. You must wait about 7 days, after successfully checking, in to apply for your social security number.
