The independent study “Problems with Purchasing System: Case Study of
ABC Company Limited” aimed to study 1) a purchasing system, 2) problems and
solutions involving a purchasing system in a case study of a company, using both
qualitative and quantitative study methods. The data were collected by questionnaires
from 51 respondents who worked with the purchasing system of the case study
company. Interviews were used to collect detailed data to cover all areas of study.
The analysis results found that the company created the purchasing policies,
principles, rules, procedures, and managing for both human and document forms
involved in the purchasing system to guide the operation properly. Most problems that
occurred with purchasing planning were caused by outdated computer systems with
insufficient memory that resulted in slow data processing. The solution for this problem
was to determine the conditions and rules to control product delivery and quality
assurance. The recommendation was that the company should create internal control
for a purchasing system that could be used to validate and verify data, and the
information systems should use up-to-date technology.
