Of the 21 organic and 6 aqueous extracts that demonstrated
strong activity against A. salina, only three of
the organic extracts have been chosen for further investigation.
Those three are Crateva religiosa, Diospyros
dichrophylla, and Olax subscorpioidea. The organic
extracts from all three species demonstrated activity
below 100 μg/ml and an initial examination of the literature
indicated that no prior chemical investigations
had been performed for cytotoxic compounds.
