For example, in a typical order-entry process, a clerk would
have to move between their e-mail, where they were first notified,
and the different sales systems to record different parts
of the order, as well as the finance system to record the credit
transaction and finally the ERP system to check stock levels.
With BPM, the clerk would simply see a single view that presents
all of the entry fields and notifications needed to complete
the order. Each of the existing systems would be updated
in the background, but this would not be the concern of the
order-entry clerk.
