.Analysis of co-product allocation
There is more than one product with many agriculture and industry production poly-generation (The
feedstuff and corn oil are produced when processing the fuel ethanol from corn), during which the raw
material and process energy input can’t be distinguished and GHG emission may be in the entire
process. Here, WTP analysis is faced with the key issue “Allocation” among the products—an
appropriate method should be chosen to allocate the energy input and GHG emission in the agriculture
and industry production. International experts in LCA (Guinee etc., 2001)[62] have summarized 5
allocation methods of co-products including the quality method, market price method, embodied
energy method, processing method and alternative method.
In the LCA of vehicle fuel, it is of great significance to the research on the allocation method of
energy consumption and GHG emission whether the co-products are produced or co-products from
other agriculture or industry process are utilized as raw material.
