Status in Dtac
• GID is actively engaged on-going Network Transformation with Dtac where most of the Strategic areas are executed on.
• Dtac challenged the “yellow” GID judgement on their current High Speed backhaul readiness. The project team acknowledges that currently they have high capacity on backhaul; however during the interactions there has not been shown any concrete plan on how to secure the assets after the concession expire. Prathet highlighted that this is addressed by the Feline Project, and that Dtac will have more insights as soon as the project is concluded.
• Regarding the GID comment on late IPv6 implementation; Dtac ensured that only IPv6 capable equipment were sourced, but admitted not to have a clear end-to-end view on the matter. There is an on-going initiative in GID to work out an E2E concept; this will be communicated to all BU’s.
• GID believes that it would be more valuable to focus on sunsetting 3G network earlier to enable faster LTE transition. Therefore pushing3G handsets into the market aggressively should be avoided as soon as viable 4G alternatives are available.
• GID therefore recommends Dtac to consider stopping investments in the 3G network already by end 2016 and to channel the capacity investments to 4G.
