MATERIAL AND METHODS
Material
Table 1 shows the composition of each gel proposed for
study.
Methods
Manipulation of the Gels
The gels were prepared by the incorporation of the powder
in water, under slow and constant agitation to avoid
the formation of lumps. To the acrlyate gels (3 and 4) it
was added 0.5mL of sodium hydroxide 30% p=p.
Evaluation of the Rheological Behavior of the Samples
The samples had its rheological behavior evaluated by
the HAAKE rheometer model RHEOSTRESS RS-1. For
this study it was used the cone-plate (C35=2Ti) sensor
and data were analyzed by the software Rheowin 3. The
assays performed were: (1) yield stress, using a shear stress
of 0.01–0.5 Pa, for 180 seconds, (2) stress sweep, with shear
stress of 0.01–1200 Pa, in a frequency of 1 Hz, (3) creep and
recovery, with duration of 300 seconds and shear stress of
0.5 Pa, and recovery also with 300 seconds, returning to
0 Pa.[14] These tests were performed at 25C.
