Interpretation, the simultaneous transposition of a speech
Interpretation
An interpreter is the person who orally transposes a speech or statement from one language into another. There are several forms of interpretation:
Simultaneous interpretation: The oral transposition of the speech or the statement of a speaker while he or she is speaking, into the active language/s of the interpreter. An electronic transmission installation and an interpretation booth are required.
Consecutive interpretation: The oral transposition of the speech or the statement of a speaker into the active language/s of the interpreter, after the speaker hands over to the interpreter. In this type of interpretation, the interpreter often takes written notes.
Liaison interpretation: The oral transposition, after the event, of a conversation between two or more people into the active language/s of the interpreter.
