Manchester United will hold talks with Anzhi striker and Chelsea transfer target Samuel Eto'o this week, according to Italian newspaper Gazzetta Dello Sport.
Anzhi are prepared to offload their highest earners as they look to trim their wage bill - Eto'o is one of the most expensive players in world football - and United have now joined Chelsea by registering their interest in the player.
Other options for the Cameroonian striker reportedly include Manchester City or a return to Inter Milan.
Jose Mourinho managed Eto'o at the San Siro, and was believed to be keen to bring him to Stamford Bridge to challenge for a starting place at Chelsea.
But Manchester United have begun exploring alternatives should Wayne Rooney leave Old Trafford this summer.
