Abstract Fruits that are produced in the zones of tropical rainforest, monsoon, or savannah are known as tropical fruits. A lot of fruit species are grown in these three zones of the tropics. However, only a few are exploited and utilized in local markets with fewer being exported. The fruits can be consumed in many ways and forms; they even play an important role in the religious, cultural, and social life of Asians. Developing countries are the main producers of tropical fruits while the developed countries are the major importers. The production of future tropical fruits is challenging and strategies are needed to enhance its production and trade.
