Si Satchanalai is a district of the Sukhothai province. Is is subdivided into 11 sub-districts. There are 148 villages. This town was formerly called Muang Chaliang. This town is located on the bank of the Yom river with spectacular views. There is Sisatchanalai Historical Park at Sisatchanalai district. Is has many attractions such as Wat Phra Si Rattana mahathat, Wat Khao Phanom Ploeng,Wat Chang Lom,etc. Moreover, there is the area of many Tao Thu Riengs at Ban Ko Noi, including the interesting lifestyle of the people at Ban Had Sieo- with their long kept culture, traditions, and handicrafts such as local cloth and golden ornaments. Visitors can go here by car and bus.
Attractions : Wat Phra Si Rattana mahathat is a large historic temple complex located to the southeast of Sisatchanalai town.
Wat Chang Lom is located almost at the centre of the historic town, and is situated on the plain to the east of Khao Phanom Ploeng. There are 39 sculptures of elephants around the base of the chedi.
There are Sukhothai traditional ancient gold and silver ornaments at Tha Chai sub-district. Then Had Sieo is famous for handwoven cloth. They are available in many shop in had sieo sub-district such as Gold Textiles Museum. had sieo village has a famous custom. It is called by Thais as Buat Chang Had Sieo or the parade of elephants before monk ordination
