Tinospora cordifolia stem was collected fresh from
the forest areas in Udupi- district, Karnataka state,
South India, and dried in the shade and then
powdered. The plant was identified by Professor and
Head of the Department of Botany, Mangala
Gangothri, Mangalore University. A specimen
(Voucher No. 31) was deposited in the botany
department museum. The powdered materials were
kept in an air-tight container in a refrigerator until the
time of use
