Now most of linguists hold the opinion that language represents system of signs, that is semiotics system. The semiotics, or "science about signs" (from Greek semeiotikón, from semeion – "a sign, a sign") has appeared at the beginning of the 20th century. Interests of semiotics extend to all human communication which is carried out at the help of natural and artificial languages, communication of animals, information and social processes, research of culture and all art forms. In this essay such semiotics system as language is considered.
Such outstanding scientists devoted to studying of the matter the works, as well as. A. Baudouin de Courtene, L. Elmslev, Ch. Morris, Ch. Pearce, A.A. Reformatsky, F. de Saussure, Yu.S. Stepanov, A.A. Ufimtseva and many others. In this essay the analysis and generalization of their views of language as semiotics system is carried out. A research objective, thus, is consideration of language as semiotics system.
