Exopolysaccharide producing lactic acid bacterial(LAB) were tested in vitro to select a candidate robioticstrainbytestingtheirtolerancetolowpHandbile,bilesalthydrolase(BSH) ctivity,antibioticssusceptibilitypatternandantimicrobialactivity.Resultsindi-cated hatLABisolateswerehighlysensitiveagainstoxbile(0.3%)butcouldgrowinthepresence fsodiumtaurocholate(0.3%).Sevenoutof9isolateswerefoundtobeBSHpositive. Twooftheisolates, Lactobacillusplantarum 86 and Weissella cibaria 92 howedconsiderableantimicrobialactivityagainstGram-positiveandGram-negativepathogens.
