Weber and Mohr are both edible red macroalgae indigenous to the
North Atlantic Ocean. Both accumulate N at relatively high rates and
command a higher price than brown algae (Chopin et al., 1995, 1999;
Martínez and Rico, 2002). Their frond morphology differs; Palmaria
are wide and large, whereas Chondrus are narrow and small (Sears,
2002). These differences can influence how stocking density affects nutrient
uptake and growth (Kim et al., 2007).
