Employees are increasingly evaluated on their demonstration of qualities and characteristics that are stated in the corporate code of ethics. For example, many companies base a
portion of their employee performance evaluations on treating others fairly and with
respect, operating effectively in a multicultural environment, accepting personal account-
ability to meet business needs, continually developing themselves and others, and operating openly and honestly with suppliers, customers, and other employees. These factors are considered along with more traditional criteria used in performance appraisals, such as an employee’s overall contribution to moving the business ahead, successful completion of
projects, and maintenance of good customer relations
