The Parliament Chamber is a major part of the Main Plaza of the Assembly Building. The roof of the Chamber was designed with a clearance of a single story for the purpose of daylighting. Such is achieved with natural light reflecting from the Chamber’s surrounding walls and octagonal drum, an appropriate demonstration of Kahn’s strong capability in the efficient and aesthetic use of light in his designs. The artificial lighting in the Chamber provides no obstruction to the entry of daylight. A chandelier suspended from the parabolic shell roof consists of a metallic web that supports the individual light fixtures, while spanning the entire chamber
