The sample for this study consisted of 20
Hellenic NSOs, which are recognized and
regularly funded by the General Secretariat of
Sport. Both semi-structured and highly structured
interviews were developed and used to
collect data. The integration of qualitative
and quantitative data was thought particularly
valuable not to fulfil the research objectives,

sought to identify perceptions of
organizational performance by various inuential
members working with NSOs and the
GSS. The focus of the discussion was the
interaction of the state agency with the NSOs;
its impact on their organizations’ performance;
and whether allocation of resources
was tied to performance requirements, to
bureaucratic procedures or to compliance
with rules or practices.
