Antecedents
The most commonly cited situation in which chronic fatigue
is present seems to be in chronic physical disease or a
condition such as chronic fatigue syndrome, with the
suggestion that fatigue should have an identifiable aetiology.
Factors affecting personal manifestations of fatigue have been
proposed as physiological, psychological and situational (Liu
2006). In the absence of an identified physical disease,
possible psychiatric conditions or morbidity are discussed.
Many authors describe fatigue as the result of depression,
mood disorders or other psychopathology. Some of the
antecedents present in chronic fatigue, including depression
and anxiety, are also considered as possible consequences of
chronic fatigue; this is typically represented as being an initial
disorder with fatigue as a consequence
