‘Reflex in the context of reflexology means the ‘reflection’
of all the organs, systems and structures of the body onto
the feet or the hands. Reflex therapy is the practice of
working on these reflexes in such a way as to produce a relaxation
and response in the corresponding body regions.
By applying controlled pressure with the thumbs or index
fingers to the reflex points and areas on the feet, the body
is stimulated to achieve its own state of equilibrium and
good health. Pressure on the reflexes not only affects the
organ or region of the body but also influences the relationship
between different functions, processes and parts.
Although it is possible to work on the hands or feet, the
foot reflexes are more sensitive and it is generally more efficacious
to work with them.
