Individual behaviour is a major
factor in the effectiveness of the
governing body, and also has an
infl uence on the reputation of
the organisation, the confi dence
and trust members of the public
have in it and the working
relationships and morale within
it. Confl icts, real or perceived, can
arise between the organisation’s
interests and those of individual governors (see 4.1). Public trust can then be damaged
unless the organisation implements clear procedures to deal with these confl icts.
