They were chosen from the AVRDC upon our request to represent a set of less known major materials from South Asia and West Asia. Seeds of each accession were sown in a single row of 2 m long with 12.5 cm intra-row and 50 cm inter-row spacings (ca. 16 plants/row) for summer and dry seasons at Kasetsart University, Kamphaeng Saen Campus, Nakhon Pathom, Thailand. The experiment had no replication in each season. Cultural practices were performed according to Park (1978).
