Christine White 'Valarces' 43x86 cm (17x34 in) each. White Wensleydale wool mixed with Blue-faced Leicester locks have been used to create these delicate hanging structures. The artist comments: Hand high-quality cobweb felt takes much skill. Although it's fairly easy to produce an artistically interesting felt with a lot of random holes, it is much more difficult to make an even consistent texture that is still as possible. She goes on to explain how some felt makers use a power sander to make cobweb felt as the vibration speeds the process, but she feels that it also removes the intimate dialogue between the artist and her medium. Therefore, expert felt makers use only their only their hands to slowly and deliberately coax the fibres together into a perfect, sheer sheet.
