Thailand's deep south to have natural disaster warning systems
the southernmost provinces will have disaster warning towers set up as part of the National Disaster warning center (NDwon's efort to help residents better prepare for natural disasters.
in Hat Yai district, the Deputy Governor of Sonokhla presided over the launch of a project aimed to build a knowledge base tor the civil sector concerning disaster prevention and mitigation. According to a leading staff member the NDWC has been continuously educating people in all regions about natural disasters and preparing personnel for emergercy services since 2006. This year, the focus is placed on raising public awareness of the dhannels available for reportng natural disasters and the correct use of lite-saving devices.
The NDwc is also planning to develop warming systems in the southern border region in an ellort to enable the resiaents to handle any types of disasters more etticiently. under the plan there will be an addition ot 10 warning towers, 6 satellite signal receivers, 6 radio warning stations, 18 news dissemination towers and 39 warning receivers.
