JEB considers for publication original research that has not been previously published (this generally includes posting the article on a preprint server). Submission to JEB implies that this is the case and that the submitted manuscript is not under consideration for publication elsewhere.
During the submission process, authors are asked to declare that the manuscript has been seen and approved by all authors. Submission also indicates that authors agree to abide by JEB's publishing policies, including the declaration of any competing interests to the journal on submission of a manuscript.
Authors should clearly highlight the key finding(s) of the paper and explain its significance and interest to the field in their cover letter.
Upon article acceptance, most Research Articles, Short Communications and Methods & Techniques papers are posted on the journal website as accepted author manuscripts (Advance Articles) before journal copyediting and layout and in advance of publication of the print and online issues in which they will subsequently appear. Authors who would prefer their accepted author manuscript NOT to be posted as an Advance Article should tick the relevant check box during the submission process.
