Dear Qianhong:
How are you! I really miss you; I haven't written a letter to you for a long time, because I am very busy. I am so sorry for that.
Right now I have been studying in the English Language Center at BYU in Provo, Utah. I have been here since January 1, 2000. This is a famous university. It is very beautiful. This school has a lot of good teachers and good discipline. I have learned a lot from the school; every day I have a lot of homework I need to do, and every week I have many tests. Sometimes I feel very tried, and I want to rest a few days, but I can't do that. I know I have to study hard, so my English will improve fast. You will ask me, "Why don't you study in Now York? Why did you come to Provo for study?" You know, in New York there are many Chinese; I can use Chinese everywhere. It is like living in China. I can't study English well in New York. My husband said, "If you want to study English well; you have to forget your own language." Another reason is because Provo is a school city, and there are many universities here. There are many Mormon churches here too. People here are very kind and polite; I have made many American friends here. Also, there are not many people smoking. This is a very clean city. I feel very safe and comfortable here. Provo also has a beautiful view in the winter; there are a lot of white, snow-covered mountains. It is so beautiful. I love it very much. Sometimes I go skiing with friends and I can skiing down the mountain right now. Are you going to be astonished at me?
Although everything is good here, I still have many problems. You know that my husband and my son are in New York; I miss them very much, they miss me too. My husband is a nice person; he takes care of my son and earns money for me to study. I am very worried about them. It is a hardship for me. Every Sunday I have gone to church and prayed to God. I want to God help me take care of my family and help me study fast. Another problem is that Provo's air is too dry for me. I can't sleep well during the night, and sometimes I can't breathe, but right now this problem is solved, because I have already bought a humidifier machine. The third problem is that, I feel the food here is not good for me, but it is ok. I can do it. I have to study hard to show my thanks for God's help! I am thankful for my husband's help, too!
Well, I told you a lot, but I want to keep something to talk about next time. How about you and your everything? Please tell me when you write a letter to me. I really want to know. Have good luck!
Love you,
Sandy
