Kirschwasser – Krischwasser can be called “Kirsch”. Kirschwasser is german language means cherry water (Kirsch means cherry and wasser means water). Kirschwasser is brandy made from cherry in Germany. Kirschwasser is double distilled spirit from cherry. Morello Cherry (dark skin and considered as sour cherry) is traditionally used for producing Kirschwasser. At present, any types of cherry can be used for Kirsh production. Whole cherry including seed will be used for fermentation therefore; Kirsch is not sweet. The best Kirsch must have slightly bitter taste of almond which derives from its seeds. Kisch is usually served cold in a small glass. Traditionally. Kirsch is taken before the meal (aperitif). Kirsch is also used for cooking such as Black forest cake.
