Aims and Research Questions
This study aimed to explore Saudi patient perceptions of
important caring behaviors and how frequently such were
attended by staff nurses in a multicultural environment. Findings
may enable nursing managers to strike a more appropriate
balance between patient perceptions and expectations
and nurses' caring behaviors. Specifically, this research
sought to answer the following questions:
1. What are the important caring behaviors as perceived
by patients?
2. How frequently are such caring behaviors attended
to by staff nurses?
3. Is there a discrepancy between patient perceptions of
important caring behaviors and those attended to by
staff nurses?
4. Is there a correlation between patient gender and perceptions
of important caring behaviors and those frequently
attended to by staff nurses?
