Flood management can be controlled by either structural or non-structural measures. Flood walls, transversal protection works, embankments, conduits, and reservoirs are only examples of some civil works aimed at the control of such recurring flooding incidents. Structural measures are two-tier processes that consider the hydrological implications of flooding. It is worth mentioning that though such structural measures solutions contribute to flood reduction, there are other affiliated disadvantages to those measures such as its long term value, environmental impact, and involved high cost.
