23.4 Boring and Boring Machines
v Boring is performed to enlarge a hole made previously by some other process (like drilling) or to
produce circular internal profiles in hollow workpieces (Fig. 23.1h).
v The cutting tools are similar to those used in turning and are mounted on a boring bar to reach the
full length of the bore (Fig. 23.17a).
v Boring bars have been designed and built with capabilities for damping vibration (Fig. 23.17b).
