concentrations values of Fe2 + indicated that all the tested dyes ex-
hibited significant antioxidant properties, and this activity enhanced
in the dyes with benzothiazolyl and electron-donating group. In
other words, these dyes showed the ability of electron donor to scav-
enge free radicals. This noteworthy antioxidant activity may be ra-
tionalized on the basis that prepared dyes possess phenolic and
thiazolidinone moiety as known antioxidants. Among the tested
dyes, azo dyes 3a, 3b and 3e have exhibited good radical scavenging
activity. However, dyes 3c and 3d exhibited moderate activity. This
activity of compounds 3a, 3b and 3e may be due to the presence of
benzothiazolyl as bioactive component and naphthyl and ethoxy
electron-donating groups.
