DISCUSSION
The Common Objects Memory Test (COMT) was developed
and administered to 336 healthy older adults, 84 patients
with AD and 6 individuals with questionable dementia from
fi ve ethnic groups. Data analysis showed that test performance
deteriorated somewhat with aging, but was little
infl uenced by the participants’ education level, and uninfl
uenced by their gender or ethnic background. Among the
COMT measures, the 30-min delayed recall best distinguished
the healthy controls from the cognitively impaired
patients, whereas the recognition measures were relatively
unsuccessful at separating the two groups.
