Marvin High School had an enrollment of 132 at the time this study was undertaken. The 2004-5 student enrollment was 62% White, 36% Hispanic, 6% English Learners, and 59% free and reduced priced meal program participants. The school had a student-teacher ratio of 14.2 to 1, and student to computer ratio of 2.4 to 1. The school achieved an average California Academic Performance Index (API) score of 798 and ranked 9 out of 10 deciles compared to all other high schools in the state.3 Due to Marvin’s small size, no API similar school ranking was reported.
