Plant extracts that contain various reductants and stabilizers can potentially also be used as agents for greener synthesis of silver nanoparticles (Narayanan and Sakthivel 2011a and b). Green synthesisof silver nanoparticles should use an aqueous medium, environmentally-benign reducing agent and biocompatible stabilizing agent. Due to the presence of a
myriad of biomolecules in plant metabolites possessing bioreduction and biostabilization ability, the exploration of such molecules could facilitate control over size and morphology of metal nanoparticles. Herein, we report the synthesis of greener silver nanoparticles using turnip leaf extract and its antifungal activity in the inhibition of wood-degrading fungi.
