The goal of the Department encourages students to be creative and unique so that they become choreographers with self-identity and originality. The process, in which students find languages from their bodies, develop them further, encourage other students to make an experiment with them, is progressively underway through the whole curriculum. The first and second years have practical courses on dance and classes on different genres of art. Meanwhile the third and fourth years offer various courses necessary for students to plan their choreography and make their own works. Each semester, choreographers from other nations join as invited professors, or master class is offered during vacation. Students should earn required credits for gradation. In addition, only when students submit the work of their own choreography more than one time in the biannual Experimental Dance Festival, which is a part of the curriculum, they are qualified to present a graduation work.
