Why does Monfriez tell his first version of the events at Al Kufan that weakens
the courage of Walden?
•He was so afraid of being court martial—To be discharged dishonorably from
the military, or imprisoned.
•He was embarrassed that he had been overcome by fear at Al Kufan—an
inconsistent act of ideal masculinity by surviving on the sacrifice of a woman.
•So the way he act (aggressively), his duty of choice, sports, cars, etc. are all
the cover-up of his weakness.
