Recently, certain
genes were found to be coordinately regulated depending
on cell density via a quorum sensing system (QSS) in B. glumae (Kim et al. 2004). Burkholderia glumae uses
N-acylhomoserine lactone (AHL) as a signal molecule, and
tofI and tofR have been identified as encoding the AHL
synthase gene and AHL cognate receptor gene, respectively.
