2.2.1 Towards Unbundling Practices of ESD
The ESD processes listed in the previous section are all different
instances of software evolution that differ from each other by
some organizational practices. They are often presented as a fixed
bundle of practices and practitioners are expected to accept or
reject the whole bundle. However this bundling – while it
represents a reasonable current stage in our understanding of
software evolution – is becoming an obstacle to further progress.
This section presents a different view: It proposes to associate
individual practices with specific project circumstances that they
address, and based on that, to tailor new processes that exactly fit
specific project needs.
