Correlation of the CDC10 expression levels in the LM with marbling
Our previous dd PCR result showed that the expression level of the
CDC10 gene in the LM was higher in two high-marbled JB steers (BMS
11) than in two low-marbled Holstein steers (BMS 3) (Sasaki, Miyake,
et al., 2006a). To confirm this association of the CDC10 expression pattern
andmarblingwithin JB breed in this study,we selected six JB steers
with the highest BMS (average BMSwas 11, ranging from10 to 12) and
six JB steerswith the lowest BMS (average BMSwas 3, ranging from2 to
4). The CDC10 expression levels in the LM were significantly higher in
the JB steer group with the highest marbling levels than in the JB steer
groupwith the lowest ones (P b 0.001) (Fig. 1a). The expression pattern
of the CDC10 genewas consistentwith our previous ddPCR data (Sasaki,
Miyake, et al., 2006a). These results suggested that the CDC10 expression
levels are associated with marbling within the JB breed.
