These projects share knowledge and
marketing through the Cambodian Community-Based Ecotourism
Network, an umbrella organization established in 2002, and officially
registered as a non-governmental organization in 2005
(Prummel, 2010). Some 46,400 ecotourists visited CBET sites in
2007 (CCBEN, 2008). Most CBET sites are located within national
parks or conservation areas designated as protected areas, and are
focused either on unique natural attractions (e.g. Irrawaddy river
dolphins, the Yeak Laom volcanic lake) or are situated within
remote wilderness areas.
