One notable finding in this study was that a broad range
of other pain management strategies were identified. Many
of them belong to the scope of TCM, and some are widely
used by Chinese patients for pain relief, such as acupuncture,
cupping, drinking medicinal liquor and Tui Na (Chen et al.
2004, Cao et al. 2011). The frequency of use and perceived
effectiveness of TCM in this sample were unknown. Future
research is needed to explore these issues in more detail.
